Besides taking the 14-hour flight to Tokyo this weekend, there’s one place in Brooklyn to enjoy beautiful, blooming Cherry Blossoms and Japanese culture. That place is the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
This weekend’s Cherry Blossom festival, or Sakura Matsuri, will be going on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm. Not only will the beautifully photogenic Cherry Blossoms be in full bloom, but a number of other spectacles will be taking place.
Along with the Cherry Esplanade’s 76 Prunus ‘Kanzan’ trees, there will be samurai sword/martial arts presentations, tea ceremonies, a larger than life origami demonstration, manga workshops, games of Go, a J-pop dance party, and much more!
The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is one of my favorite places to relax in Brooklyn, and this is the ideal time of year to go.
We got to beat the rush last weekend to snap some pictures for this post, but this weekend’s festival is going to be spectacular, and the Blossoms should be in full bloom by this weekend. See you there! More Info
